Overview
La Lavandière is a beautiful stone house lovingly renovated to create quality bed and breakfast accommodation. The house was architecturally re-designed and yet has managed to retain much of its charming and quirky features incorporating the charm of the old as well as comforts possible only with new features such as lighting and luxury en-suite facilities. The front garden abounds with lavender bushes, which is where the house gets its name, and through the French windows at the rear is a pretty enclosed courtyard where you can enjoy your breakfast or spend some quiet time before venturing out for your evening meal.
Accommodation
Three double/twin bedrooms which can sleep up to 6 people. Complimentary tea and fresh coffee is available on request and served in our pretty enclosed courtyard or the dining room, depending on the season. Fresh mineral water is provided in all rooms.

The Area
Four Departments make up the Poitou-Charentes region and we are in the south of Vienne but close to the other Departments - Charente Maritime, Charente and Deux-Sevres where there is much to delight your sense of well being whether on your own or with your family. The region is the second sunniest spot in France and is a totally unspoilt region with undulating golden fields of sunflowers and maize, picturesque villages, wonderful walks and rivers, walnut tree forests – and tranquillity! A short distance away in the are the coastal resorts of Royan and La Rochelle with beaches, aquariums, excellent seafood restaurants and museums; or Futuroscope in Poitiers – the theme park of moving images – with simulated rides, water activities and incredible cinematic experiences most with an underlying technological theme. Within 20 minutes drive is the wonderful La Vallee des Singes – the valley of the monkeys – all living in complete freedom on natural wooded islets. You can join in feeding time which takes place several times a day as you roam through the different areas containing more than 15 species of primate and with over 200 animals in all it is not to be missed.
Things To Do
The beautiful surrounding countryside is excellent for easy walking and cycling or painting on the banks of the river Charente. For the more energetic there is canoeing, kayaking, horse riding and fishing all close by. The delightful old market towns of Ruffec and Civray are each within a short drive with ancient churches and weekly markets brimming with fresh farm produce where locals gather to catch up on the latest gossip! For golf enthusiasts a bit further south in Haute-Vienne are popular courses with Saint-Junien being the closest. By Plane Daily flights from London Stansted direct to either Poitiers or Limoges with Ryanair. Flights from Southampton to Limoges or La Rochelle or from Bristol to Bordeaux with Flybe. By Train Eurostar from Waterloo International to Lille, then TGV to either Poitiers or Angouleme. By Road There are a number of ferry crossings to get you to Southern France - please contact us for more information about crossings and routes.
